It is inaccurate to say When we were in Pakistan. People who evacuated from West Punjab to East Punjab were never in Pakistan. Their homeland remains West Punjab not Pakistan.
Thanks for commenting. But that is how one refers to the place that is now called by a name that never existed before. Starting from 1947 names were changed a new country came into being that did not exist till then. That country as a whole had 'their homes'. And when they talk collectively, about different parts of what is now Pakistan, that is how they refer. It's not inaccurate in the context. Those from Bangladesh will have a different experience as the word 'Bangla' still remained in the name of the new country and the place where they moved was just West Bengal rather than only Bengal. Maybe you can read it in the context. Thanks again for reading and commenting. Besides before the partition, there was only one Punjab. There was no concept of east and west, unless talked about in the context of travel.
