Satyamev Jayate is India’s National Motto.
Satyamev Jayate: Only the Truth Triumphs
The two-word phrase, packed with the secret to crafting an honest life of an individual or a nation is found in Mundaka Upanishad.
Upanishad—literally meaning sitting around, are philosophical dialogues pondering on human purpose in the universe.
There are 108 Upanishads.
Upanishads—which are mostly dialogues between contemporaries, teachers and students, husband and wife-- do not provide answers but were written mostly to evoke questions about our existence.
The foundational argument/understanding is Brahman is all there is.
Amul, an Indian Dairy Brand is known for its clever one liners on current issues.
Brave-hearts—March on, it says. Glory to Shiva! Story related to this is later in the post.
What is Brahman?
Not a simplistic idea of God or a creator.
The substance that the entire universe is made of…including you and I, is Brahman!
Brahman1 is all-pervading essence/energy that exists in everything --both alive and non-alive—and cannot be comprehended by our human brains (you can also read an earlier article here that shares the concept of Hinduism).
Therefore, He/She/Divine is understood through various incarnations it takes to come to the planet. Stories, songs, narratives, ways of worshipping-the oneness.
There is only one divine, only one being.
Humans and God are made of the same material.
We are all one being.
Difference is an illusion.
But that difference is what creates this carnival on our beautiful earth.
Once we realize this ‘truth’, we reach the ‘escape velocity’ that allows us to leave this planet forever. No more reincarnation.
Believe it or not, there are many more fun planets to be on.
But since most of us are not ready to function from that knowledge, we must engage, in our families, in loves, in our passions.
We experience the divine through people we love, through poetry we write, through the sunsets we admire.
When we are ready to function from a higher level of knowledge, after thousands of lifetimes, we awaken.
Until then, we dance, we fight, we sing, we roar, we play, we lie, we hug, we kiss….we are lost, we are found.
Simple.
Endless Time on Our Notebooks
Time in India is measured in unending cycles. We don’t measure time, we live in time. Time is not linear but cyclical. Time also viewed as an aspect of Divinity2.
And over the course of time and in the end, Only the Truth Shall Triumph.
Take any aspect of life.
Only the Truth.
Satyamev Jayate was one of the phrases we often found printed on our notebooks.
Not anything jingoistic ‘India is the best’, ‘Hinduism is great’, ‘Krishna loves you’.
And not even caste system is great, as has been popularized in high academic circles. But—
Truth and Only Truth Shall Triumph.
No matter how long it takes.
The national motto can be found on India’s Emblem
It’s a good thing to remember in difficult times,
Combine it with other two oft recited couplets--one from the Rig Veda, one of the oldest known written documents in the world, and the Bhagvad Gita (The Song of God)—and you have a recipe for a magnificent life!
Om asto ma sad gamaya3,
Tamso ma joytirgamaya,
Mrityorma amritam gamaya (Rig Veda).
O God! Lead us from untruth to truth.
From darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge
and from the cycle of birth and death to immortality.
Immortality not of the flesh, but in the context of knowledge.
For they say, ‘The truth shall set you free.’ John 8:31-32, The Bible.
And that is why, ‘Let there be light!’ (Genesis). The couplet was printed on many of our notebooks when we bought them.
Not, oh God of a certain book, give me salvation.
But give me knowledge so that I may know the truth---
That all is one.
I am my father are one (John 10:30).
Except Hindus think Mother is (even) more powerful than the father, and
that you can worship both in the forms you believe in.
And
Karmanye vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana,
Ma Karmaphalaheturbhurma Te Sangostvakarmani
You have the right to work only but never to its fruits.
Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction.
So, know that in the endless cycles of time, the truth always wins!
Ask the divine to enlighten your mind, not just to worship him, but also to be able to function in this world with proper discrimination between right and wrong.
And give your 100% towards your goal. But know that you have no right to expect anything.
Mind you this concept of ‘rights’ emerges when there is no understanding of Karma.
If we have many lives, and it’s an endless cycle of time,--and we keep returning to this planet, until we get it right, and dear ladies and gentlemen, make
‘THE PROCESS YOUR PURPOSE.’
Mood in Asia
The post titled Heart-to-heart was heavy but needed.
It was my intention to keep away from this, because it is emotionally hard both on the author and the reader.
But since I wrote that post, things have escalated.
Not only that, like always media provides half-truths. So, this post will embroider concepts from Hinduism, media lapses, lies and manipulations with screenshots of information and tweets.
Much of it is serious, some of it is humorous, as is the need of the hour.
Please begin by watching this video that described how international media covered the event. The video has been considered ‘sensitive content’ by YouTube so is being suppressed. You can click here to watch it, and decide for yourself if this is sensitive content. Interestingly independent portals have come up, to counter the mainstream media, both at home and abroad.
Or you can sign in to show you are above 18 to watch this.

Some Facts, Some Truths, Much Media
Just heard that there has been a cease fire between the two nations. War had yet not be declared. It is not war until the President declares it.
Indian officials were clear that they were neutralizing terror camps.
And that is what they did. In this and the following posts, I will share several screenshots from general public, news channels, political analysts, and cyber-warriors (info warriors) about the situation. For the most part, the names of the handles will be hidden.
Some of these screenshots will be explained, others are self-explanatory. Most expose the hypocrisy of the west and their news channels.
This above tweet shows the frustration of a young Indian that the western world does not want to acknowledge what it sees.
Another one:
Here a journalist who is one of those Kashmiri Hindus who has lived through the exodus of 1990—-gives a verbal shake and reminder to the guy who comfortably sits in the US—a former Indian citizen who sold hotmail to Microsoft.
Mr. Bhatia was reminded that no one is using Hotmail these days, his opinion is both irrelevant and obsolete.
Here a reality check for Financial Times that is putting both Pakistan and India at the same level.
Here is recent Meme, since IMF—the International Monetary Fund gave over 2 billion to Pakistan, even when it has been proven time and again that they harbor terrorists. Wait, did we forget where Osama bin Laden was found? Or do we not know which country gives the biggest contribution to IMF? Do you believe those talks like….’We want peace?” Countries whose economies are based on selling weapons, can’t really want peace. But who’s questioning.
Here is a comment from Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir
Another piece of information that should make one question these ‘international organizations’. At least look at who are the leaders who sit at its helm?
Here a young man, whose twitter/X account was revoked several times and he always returned with more than before followers—- because he speaks the truth…asks a few very relevant questions….and makes some powerful statements.
PS: Just adding this post publication
Is it about Kashmir? Or Love and Peace?
The international media has us all convinced —that the dispute is over land. It is much deeper. It is actually linked to a prophecy that predicted that all of India will be turned into a Muslim country. Even as a child I thought it was weird that Pakistan chose to take land in the east and the west and call it one country? The plan is to connect the land in between. It’s a different story that the plan did not work out.
As a tweeter, rightly said, the conflict is not a few weeks or a few decades old.
However, not only in northern Indian region especially the Pakistan-Bangladesh corridor there is a much higher population of Muslims. All fine because after all we are the same people, speak the same language.
But guess what? Under the lax Indian government rules, over 80,000 Pakistan nationals were found to be living in India on either expired visas (from years to decades) or awaited visas —while they were married to Indians. Mostly Pakistani women. After this crisis all Pakistani nationals were ask to leave India and a thorough check was done. What did they find? Many more thousands of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan. All Non-Hindus. These are ways of changing the demography.
Once the demography changes, you need no wars, the country breaks from within.
That is the reason I usually pack both Christianity and Islam in the same box. Judaism is different. It’s small in number, and does not care ot convert. In fact conversion to Judaism is not easy and quick. So, even if they are in the same category as other two Abrahamic faiths, they keep to themselves.
Can you think of Africa or Latin America as anything but mostly Christian and a bit of Islam? Can you think of Pakistan as anything but Islamic? But wasn’t it all Hindu and Buddhist?
Religions of conversion make people dislike their ancestors and breed conflict with those who came before. And that is what happened to the Jews. Zoroastrians, and that is what is happening to the Hindus and Yahzidis.
The sad part is that it’s been less than a century and we have forgotten the holocaust. Such is the media-machinery. And we will never know where does the money come to these channels and whose mouth pieces they are.
PLEASE KNOW THAT NOT ONCE DO I SUPPORT ANY KILLING. NOT A SINGLE SOUL SHOULD DIE, WE SHOULD ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE.
WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT HERE IS HOW INFORMATION IS PRESENTED TO US AND HOW MANY FACTS ARE HIDDEN.
THE TRUTH THAT WE TALK ABOUT IS VAST, AND THE REALITY IS WE ARE ALL TOO BUSY IN OUR REGULAR LIVES TO RESEARCH AND UNDERSTAND.
But to make sense of the world, we must, we must , we must hold opinions.
And Media shapes our ways of thinking.
Here is another piece of information.
Please know neither is Israel-Palestine about the land, nor is Indo-Pak conflict about any land. It’s a war of civilizations, of ways of thinking of the divine, of believing one is truer than the other. You can read a bit more about hindu genocide and how long it has been going on here….4
Something that the media will not tell you, here is a SHORT list of terrorists attack by Pakistan on India.
IF YOU CAN GET ANYTHING OUT OF THIS POST—PLEASE REMEMBER THERE HAS BEEN NOT A SINGLE TERRORIST ATTACK FROM INDIA ON PAKISTAN.
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ONE NEWS CHANNEL SAY SO?
Whatever India has done —in the last week has only been to protect itself. Time and again they have said they are attacking first only —terror camps. And then, only bases to neutralize the attack.
The International Media Won’t Tell You.
The international media won’t tell you that not only did India do a fantastic job, much of the defense system it used was home built.
Remember 2.5 years ago, when the world was against India buying oil or weapons from Russia? Who came to India’s help in the last week? The world was holding tight to its popcorn —as it watched in awe with the precision with which India attacked. They wanted to see India’s powers. And India showed restrain and precision.
Birth of a superpower as one young man had tweeted/said on X.
How many of these attacks did you know about?
These are just in the last 3 decades. And no international media is talking about how India has behaved gracefully over the last century (or Hindus over the last 10 centuries?).
Most international media called the terrorits ‘militants’ and called Kashmir, ‘Indian occupied Kashmir.
Do you know what is the Origin of Kashmir?
Here is are two paras-directly from Wiki
Etymology
The word Kashmir is thought to have been derived from Sanskrit and was referred to as káśmīra. A popular local etymology of Kashmir is that it is land desiccated from water.
An alternative etymology derives the name from the name of the Vedic sage Kashyapa who is believed to have settled people in this land. Accordingly, Kashmirwould be derived from either kashyapa-mir(Kashyapa's Lake) or kashyapa-meru (Kashyapa's Mountain).
RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT RELIGIOUS VIOLENCE IN INDIA
Here is an incisive article by a friend who is a Professor of Media Studies at the University of San Francisco—on how media white washes crimes of terrorists and wraps it in coy language to misguide the global community?
https://sffoghorn.com/raising-awareness-about-religious-violence-in-india/
Professor Juluri asks:” Why does the U.S. media whitewash bloodbaths? Why do they pretend religious bigotry isn’t worth noting? These are not rhetorical questions to stoke “Oppression Olympics” or “trade in religious anxiety,” but critical ones to ask about the media.”
Please read and ponder, how many of us have fallen for what the media tell us, how many times we have toed the media headlines without asking real questions.
Yes, we are all busy—-but the least we can do is recognize that enough is enough. That terror has to be called out as terror. But it is not a regular terror, it is a terror that intends to eliminate a certain people because of its beliefs.
Conversions & Changes in Demography: Churches and Mosques
So next time someone tells you, it's about Kashmir or any land, please —please, please say, ‘Its a 1000 year war.’ While there is terror coming from our neighboring state, there is manipulation within the country by churches, who tell Hindus to ‘drop their false Gods.’ But we don’t label if terrorism or cultural genocide, or manipulation.
It is a war that these two religions began about 2000 and 1500 years ago. But we never hear about it. India is one of the last bastion —one of the few countries where it still practices religion that is home-grown. We forget that both Islam and Christianity are from the same place—round about.
Mughals who were muslims ruled for 200 years, about the same time as the British who were Christians. But neither could break the Hindus. We allowed other religions to live beside us and we borrowed some of their ways and colored them in some of ours. But more importantly, we still love our Gods, and if there was ever time to get an evidence of whether our Gods loved us too…it was last week.
Generally, Christians in India are called ‘rice bags’ because it is the ultra poor who convert, and are usually converted for something as little as a rice bag.
As Swami Vivekanada said, ‘There is no religion for hungry stomachs.’
As India’s economic status is changing (it took over British economy in 2022) things are changing. The world is playing dirty.
Media does not talk, gives wrong or incomplete information and we fight over Facebook, argue with friends and never come to a resolution.
We are not trained to ask the right questions.
I have much more to share, but I am going to wrap up with a point of truth.
Let’s Face the Truth
If only I could tell you the number of times I have been asked about ‘how women are treated in India.’
It’s not as straight an answer.
Well, women in India are treated —just the way they are in the rest of the world.
No, that is not accurate. I think when it comes to the negative treatment it’s the same as the rest of the world. But when it comes to positive treatment, NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD CAN COME CLOSE TO HOW HIGHLY WOMEN ARE TREATED AND HOW WELL THEY WORK SHOULDER TO SHOULDER TO MEN.
Meaning we have battered women and oppressed ones, but we also have the most educated, and most accomplished women. Part of it is related to the fact that we have had women in high places both in mythology and in ancient and modern history.
All my professors in India were women. One third of my profs during my first degree in the US were women, and I did not have a single women professor during my second degree. I did take one undergraduate class that was taught by a woman professor, who was on her way to retirement.
India got her first Indian PM in 1966. The US is still waiting. Sweden got one recently. Just a few facts.
But here is how it is relevant to the recent conflict.
The retaliatory attack by India was called OPERATION SINDOOR.
OPERATION SINDOOR.
Now this is the fun part.
Almost like a page from a blockbuster. And if not clearly understood, the international community would have missed THIS TRUTH.
Sindoor : is the red vermilion powder that Hindu women wear after they get married. They wear it as a symbol of their married status, to honor their husbands. In the 1970s and 80s it became a fashion statement and many women wore it with pride.
According to custom, sindoor is wiped off and never applied again if a Hindu woman is widowed.
The terrorists widowed over twenty women, when they shot the men once they confirmed that they were NOT HINDU.
They asked, “What is your religion’ and upon shooting said, “Go, Tell Modi.”
An attack in Kashmir was a slap on the Indian Government that was trying to bring peace ot the region but rehabilitating it after brutal murders and following exodus of Hindus in 1990.
Sindoor was the right term for the operation.
The operation is avenging the wiping off of the Sindoor from the women’s foreheads.
And who gave the message to Pakistan and the world about what Operation Sindoor had delivered?
Two women—Naah…Goddesses, Mothers—-
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh—representing the Air Force—
Another truth. In India names are sacred. And chosen based on when the child is born. Just the letter is chosen. But this must have been in the stars.
Vyomika means, daughter of the sky.
And Col. Sofia Quershi, who says her family has been fighting for India for generations. Her great-grandmother fought with teh Indian warrior princess Rani Jhansi.
Want another punch?
Col. Quershi is a Muslim.
Now think about Operation Sindoor, where they sent women to avenge the crime against other women, and a Muslim woman reported to the world about Operation Sindoor.
Take that world!!
I leave you with one tweet, although I have much more to say.
SATYA—TRUTH HAS ITS TIME
A question came up often.
Why does India not attack directly. Why is it waiting for escalation to happen from Pakistan?
In its 1000s of history India has never attacked any country first. It is also in India’s foreign policy to not occupy foreign lands. Think Kashmir was always Indian. Technically so was Pakistan and Bangladesh, he, he..
But one explanation came from Indian epics.
When it came to destroy Ravana, the demon King and Duroyadhana the demon prince (the stories are separated by 1000s of years, but have common themes of Good and Evil)—-the good guys had to wait—for them to self-destruct.
You let evil have its day. And then let the time strike. At that time, it’s not personal anymore. Enough negative Karma has been generated to self-destruct!
Remember, we live in TIME AND TIME IS ENDLESS….
Choose the side of the good.
Ask the Sun, or your Gods to give you the ability to tell between right and wrong.
SATYAMEV JAYATE.

This is a lot to absorb and I admire you, Charu, for the courage to write it. I have found the need to step back from some things for a while; I feel I am still recovering from the topsy turvy upheaval of my personal life last year and I am only now starting to peek my head out from under my little rock. "Only the Truth Triumphs." We need to hold onto that while the world spins out of control and nations rise up against one another. God--whatever you conceive that to be--made us all in his image. What my students would call "image del dio". So how can we war against ourselves? Continue to write the truth, friend, because that is what is needed.
